Nuray and Ozgur fell in love behind the barricades of last month's mass anti-government protests in Istanbul, and their wedding ceremony would have been incomplete without the Turkish police.

So when the couple picked the epicenter of the revolt on Taksim Square as the venue to tie the knot Saturday, the anti-riot police obliged and provided the water cannon.

Baton-wielding police broke up a crowd of around a thousand fellow activists who had turned up for the wedding of Nuray Cokol, a 32-year-old nurse, and Ozgur Kaya, a 34-year-old electrician, in Gezi Park.

The wedding guests, veterans of the protests that started on May 31 and rattled Turkey's government, had turned up to celebrate what the Turkish press has called "the love story of the uprising".

"Long live the resistance, long live love," shouted the protesters-cum-wedding guests before police backed by water cannon dispersed them.

Five people died during the three weeks of protests that saw an estimated 2.5 million people take to the streets in 80 different cities to demand Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's resignation.

What began as a protest against plans to redevelop Gezi Park, which is adjacent to Istanbul's Taksim Square, soon evolved into an unprecedented nationwide movement against Turkey's Islamist-rooted government.

The authorities had closed the park to the public after police forced protesters out on June 15. It was reopened 10 days ago but demonstrations remain banned.

This is turning out to be a case of one TV station that just seems determined to perpetuate the Streisand Effect.

KTVU, which was recently duped into reading off the very obviously fake names of several purported pilots from Asiana Flight 214, has apparently been trying to scrub its embarrassing blunder from the internet.

Matthew Keys (yeah, that Matthew Keys) has the scoop:

The station has started filing copyright infringement notices with YouTube ordering the removal of several videos depicting KTVU?s embarrassing misidentification of four pilots aboard Asiana Airlines Flight 214, which crashed at San Francisco International Airport earlier in the month.

Two videos uploaded by the account MatthewKeysLive for use on The Desk and elsewhere were removed by YouTube after copyright infringement notices were submitted by KTVU in an apparent attempt to scrub the internet of the gaffe. Several videos that also showed KTVU?s error and subsequent apology were removed on other YouTube accounts.

Indeed, when I checked the posts that I?ve done on this story, the videos have been disabled.

But as Keys points out, they?re still available through other YouTube accounts.? He also says his blog has submitted counter-notifications with YouTube citing copyright law?s fair use provision.? Given that the videos were used by numerous blogs and news outlets for the purpose of reporting it as news (as well as comment and criticism), I agree, I would think there?s an argument to be made for fair use.? I?ll let the lawyers in the peanut gallery weigh in on that one.

Who knows, though ? Asiana Airlines did ultimately reverse an earlier decision to sue the TV station over the report.? Maybe that factors into why KTVU is now trying to have the videos memory-holed.

Regardless of KTVU?s reasons, it seems to me this will only draw more attention to the matter, since everyone knows, you never really delete something from every corner of the interwebz.

New baseball fields give kids a look in major leagues

BATESVILLE ? Batesville Little League players with major league dreams will soon get the chance to play on replicas of the baseball diamonds where their Major League Baseball idols play.

Jeff Owens, Batesville parks and recreation director, said that by next spring, 10 new fields will be available for baseball, softball and T-ball players on the North Complex in the city.

?The new fields are designed for 12 and under [baseball] play,? Owens said.

The complex has seven fields and, by the end of the project, it will have 17 fields to play ball on, Owens said.

?The seven [new] baseball fields will replicate major league parks,? Owens said. The seven fields will be sixth-tenths replicas of these major league parks, Owens said.

Of those seven, two of the fields will be compatible for softball play, he said.

The $2.1 million project, paid for by a 1-cent recreation sales tax, is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving, he said.

The fields will replicate Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Comerica Park, Busch Stadium, Minute Maid Park and Chase Field. These fields will be on a smaller scale, but they will share most of the visual elements the major league parks have.

Batesville is one of two U.S. cities that will have such replicas, Owens said.

?We?ll replicate even the way they?re mowed,? Owens said. ?It?ll make for a very unique experience.?

He mentioned some of the fields have certain ?trademarks? that will be incorporated into the replicas.

For example, at the Chicago Cubs? Wrigley Field, the outfield walls are covered in ivy. Owens said a trellis will be put in to grow the famous ivy at the similar baseball field in Batesville.

Owens said he chose the fields because of the familiarity of them.

?The Yankees are one of the first teams you think of when you think of baseball,? Owens said. ?I also chose Busch Stadium because [Arkansas] is St. Louis Cardinal country.?

The new fields are located where the former Batesville rodeo arena was, Owens said.

The arena sat higher up on the ground, so dirt had to be moved to level out the ground where baseball diamonds will soon lie.

?We?ve moved almost 50,000 yards of dirt,? Owens said.

Owens said grass should be put on the fields by Aug. 30.

?We?ve still got parking lots, concession stands and lights to build,? Owens said. ?This is one of my first major construction projects as parks director [for Batesville].?

He said the facilities will cover about 30 to 35 acres of property at the North Complex.

Owens said the new facilities will mean new opportunities for the city and community.

?We should be able to host tournaments with up to 40 teams that can play,? Owens said.

?[This project] has been pretty neat,? Owens said.

Moto X using Verizon's network surfaces in leaked photo (updated)

What's said to be the Moto X has been breaking cover left and right, and now it's made yet another appearance. Android Central has scored a new photo of the device in question, and while it looks nearly identical to an earlier snapshot, a keen eye will notice a Verizon 4G logo sitting in the status bar. The outlet also notes that the soft navigation keys are slightly translucent like those in the previous leak, which may point to an unreleased version of Android. Paired with an internal document from Big Red that pegs the hardware for an August 23rd arrival, it looks like the Moto X is a sure bet on the carrier.

Update: It bears mentioning that an unknown Moto phone we saw way back in March may be the same model. Head past the break to see check out the video.

Popular Democratic former Gov. Brian Schweitzer told the Associated Press that he will not run for Montana's open Senate seat ? something that serves as a major blow for Democratic hopes of keeping control of the body in 2014.?

Montana's seat is now a little more wide open in the race to replace Sen. Max Baucus, who announced earlier this year that he would retire. Polls showed that Schweitzer, who was still popular in the red state, was the only hypothetical Democratic candidate who led potential Republican candidates.

Republicans need to flip six Senate seats in 2014 to gain back control of the body. Now three red states with retiring Democratic senators ? Montana, West Virginia, and South Dakota ? look like promising potential flips for Republicans, who?reacted to the news with glee.

"Just two days ago, Senate Democrats were quoted promising Brian Schweitzer tremendous resources to get in the race," said Brad Dayspring, the communications director at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, in an email.

"Fact is Schweitzer looked at the race and realized he wouldn't win in light of how unpopular the Democrat agenda of higher taxes, bankrupting spending, and the ObamaCare train wreck ?is in Montana these days. ?Republicans will have a great candidate to ensure the Treasure State equal representation in the Senate."

Democrats are spinning the news by suggesting that Schweitzer was an ultimately flawed candidate. But in April, they painted Baucus' retirement as one that made them stronger in 2014 because it cleared the field for Schweitzer.

"Montana was never going to be an easy state for us to defend," one high-placed Democratic source told?Business Insider. "But Schweitzer is the much stronger candidate."

They'll now have to turn to other candidates. One source said that the potential list includes EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock, State Superintendent Denise Juneau, and?Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen.

A Public Policy Polling survey taken in late June showed that Schweitzer was the only possible Democratic candidate who consistently beat most of the possible Republicans. Schweitzer was viewed favorably by 54% of Montanans, compared with just 40% who viewed him unfavorably.
